A small village 3 km east of Pezinok, Limbach was founded in the 13thcentury by Hungary's King Béla IV for German settlers to repopulate areas devastated by Mongol invasions. After the Second World War, the German inhabitants were displaced, and Limbach has been a popular holiday resort ever since. Many of Bratislava's wealthy residents have second homes here, but the tradition of wine-making has remained on the sunny slopes of the Little Carpathians. Local vintages can be tasted at the village's small producers, who will open their doors to you with a broad smile - a great way to meet the locals.
