The main town and the heart of the upper valley, its historic centre is well preserved. Watch with curiosity, the planetary clock built in 1583 by a local craftsman (Piero Fanzago), on Piazza dell'Orologio. Further away from a very sloping alley, the Basilica of Santa Maria Assunta in the late th century retains several very beautiful pieces of wood carved from the school of the Fantoni, the famous sculptors and architects of the region. The most famous art of the valley, however, remains the cycle of frescoes which adorn the oratory dei Disciplini (1485), representing Triumph of Death and a Macabre Dance.
