Between Cremona and Milan, the medieval village of Pandino (9,000 inhabitants) has been recognized as one of the most picturesque villages in Italy. Its main attraction is its castle, an important Lombard fortress built by the Viscontis in the 14th century, a model of its kind in terms of defensive architecture of the time. Opposite the castle is the church of Santa Marta. Just 1 km to the north, go to the hamlet of Gradella: with its pretty yellow houses gathered around the church, its porticoed streets, the village inn, the old barns, it is a beautiful testimony of the rural habitat characteristic of the Po valley, where time seems to have stopped.
