Crema is a pleasant little fortified town, known in history for having undergone a terrible siege by Barbarossa's troops (1159) and for the nearby Battle of Agnadel (1509). Won by King Louis XII over Venice, it was here that Bayard in particular distinguished himself. Mentioned in documents only from the 11th century, its origins date back to 570. With a large number of ancient religious and civil buildings, Crema has managed to preserve the physiognomy of its medieval and Renaissance urban fabric. The architectural harmony of the Piazza del Duomo alone justifies a trip to discover this picturesque city.
