The seaside that goes from Viareggio to Forte dei Marmi was the moment of glory in the 1950 s, when Frank Sinatra, Edith Piaf or Charles Aznavour came singing in Viareggio. Versilia, known for its socializing and the famous celebrities, could then compete with cities like Saint-Tropez or Monte-Carlo. But mass tourism served it and the place is no longer fashionable, even though it still retains beautiful villas of the Agnelli or Princes Pacelli, as well as some charming hotels in Forte dei Marmi, the village most in the sea edge.
