A little-known jewel that deserves the title of "city of art" for its galleries, seasonal exhibitions and the sculptures that decorate its squares and streets (the bronze foundry workshops were particularly famous here). A great name is associated with Pietrasanta: the Colombian Fernando Botero, who often stayed in Pietrasanta and adorned Piazza Matteotti with one of his sculptures. Pietrasanta's artistic affinities go back a long way: Michelangelo collaborated on the façade of San Lorenzo in Florence, and the sculptor Vincenzo Santini (1807-1876) was born here. A veritable hive of artistic activity!
