10 km from Rimini, with its 15th century fortress, parish church and well-preserved historic center, Sant'Arcangelo is one of the most picturesque villages on the coast. It lies at the foot of the Rocca, a Malatesta fortress perched on a rock between the rivers Uso and Marecchia. The Giove mountain, where the village is located, is crossed by a network of caves of mysterious origins dug by men in the tuff. You can visit some of them by booking at the tourist office (piazza Ganganelli, 1). Tonino Guerra (1920-2012), playwright and screenwriter of international renown, is a native of Sant'Arcangelo.
