Cesenatico is a seaside town 15 km east of Cesena and attracts many tourists in summer. The town is very pleasant, especially its small historical center, organized around the Porto Canale, the port-canal designed by Leonardo da Vinci and the favorite place of the inhabitants. At the back of the town there is the Piazzetta delle Conserve, where in the past fish were kept in a huge well filled with ice. The small houses that overlook the square are very picturesque. One of the symbols of the city is the 118 meter high skyscraper, the tallest in Italy at the time it was built in 1958 (it was later dethroned in 1960).
