Following the SS92, at the very top of the Agri valley, one arrives at a village located in an area famous locally for its production of fruit and vegetables. This ancient medieval county of the Norman period counts among its monuments the convent of Santa Maria di Orsoleo, a religious institution of Basilicata saved from abandonment thanks to the intervention of the region. Located a few kilometres east of Sant'Arcangelo, the convent was commissioned in 1474 by the Prince of Stigliano. Its church is a fine example of baroque decoration and its cloister contains frescoes depicting episodes in the life of Jesus by Giovanni Todisco, an important 16th-century Lucanian painter.
