A typical small town on the Antrim coast, Ballycastle is a picturesque haven of peace, surrounded by beautiful cliffs and pleasant beaches. To the east, the overwhelming shadow of Fair Head offers beautiful panoramic views, and the sea proudly carries the Isle of Rathlin and the Scottish coastline in the distance. In fact, the town really comes alive in summer, especially for two days at the end of August, during the annual The Auld Lammas Fair, a real local attraction since the early 17th century! Thousands of people come to sample specialities such as Yellowman hard toffee and dulse, a dried seaweed.
