Dominated by its pretty round tower (12th century), Killala has all the charm of a small Irish seaside village, with its delightfully colorful houses and pretty church. In 1798, the French led by General Humbert landed here. An event and date now referred to in the region as "the year of the French in Irish history", and mentioned in numerous books. For coarse fishing enthusiasts, Killala's waters are perfect for deep-sea fishing. Find out more at the village's small port.
