Leenane is a beautiful little village surrounded by mountains and close to the Maumturk Mountains. The landscapes are so grandiose and representative of Ireland that the director Jim Sheridan chose to shoot his film adaptation of John B. Keane's play, The Field, there in 1989. The route between Cleggan and Leenane has certainly inspired many a poet. Magnificent mountains, glacial valleys and peat bogs pass by. When the clouds caress the reliefs, it seems that the sky touches the earth! We left the harbor of Cleggan to cut a passage in the only fjord of Ireland, The Killary. But what do we see? Leenane!
