Leenane or Leenaun, is a beautiful little village surrounded by mountains and close to the Maumturk Mountains. The landscapes are so grandiose and representative of Ireland that director Jim Sheridan chose to shoot his film adaptation of John B. Keane's play, The Field, there in 1989. Leenane is an obligatory stopover for any excursion in Connemara.
