Trail for experienced walkers, exploring the winding ridge of the Connemara mountains, the Maamturk de Corcóg

Walkers usually start this programme at 6am, after spending the night in Leenane. The trail starts at Maam Cross, about 20 minutes south-east of Leenane, and follows the winding ridge of the Connemara mountains, the Maamturk of Corcóg, ending in Leenane. This trail, well known to the locals, is for experienced walkers only (25km, 2,336m ascent, approx. 11 hours). It promises unforgettable panoramas. Every year in April the "Maamturk's Challenge" takes place, during which 200 participants take up the challenge in 8 hours!
