Durrus is a charming village, known for its lush vegetation and cheese. For its visitors, it is often the starting point for a visit to the Mizen Peninsula and Sheep's Head. From Durrus, one can especially go to Crookhaven which is close to the most beautiful beach of the peninsula: the splendid and very preserved Barley Cove, with its fine sand and its delicious crystal waters. From Crookhaven, Mizen Head is not far. From Durrus, you can also go to Ahakista, a pleasant stop on the way to Sheep's Head, the point between Bantry and Dunmanus bays.
