This small village is typical and not very touristy. Yet it offers a splendid view of the sea on one side and the mountains on the other. Allihies was a copper-mining site until the 1950s, and some of the ruins of the mines can still be seen on the outskirts of the village. The memory of this village is still very much marked by its mining past, and there is also a Mine Museum. This small museum recounts the mining history of the village and the daily lives of miners over the past two centuries.
