This village of 1,400 inhabitants is at the heart of a major salt deposit. In the days when the Austro-Hungarian Empire ruled the region, Poles, Slovaks, Jews and Ukrainians were brought here to help the local population extract the salt. Many of the descendants of these Poles and Slovaks still live here, where they have their own churches, cafés, etc. In addition to the salt works, you can visit the Catholic church, in front of which stands a statue of Pope John Paul II.
