This picturesque village of 2,600 inhabitants is named after the first prince of Moldavia, Bogdan I (14th century). Its 1718 wooden church was built on the site of another destroyed by the Tatars. Inside, you'll notice the superb carved wooden candelabra. A little further on, in the village of Dragomirești, you'll see a 1954 church, which replaced the 1722 one moved to Bucharest's Village Museum. A few kilometers further on, Sălistea de Sus is a pretty village with two 18th-century churches, both dedicated to Saint Nicholas. You then arrive in Săcel (3,500 inhabitants), renowned for its red ceramics.
