Băile Tușnad (Tusnádfürdő) is a pretty mountain resort surrounded by forests, where spa treatments have been practiced since 1890. The waters of both Lake Ciucaș (transformed into an ice rink in winter) and Lake Sfânta Ana are used here. Its location, in the Olt valley, is particularly privileged, between the Harghita and Ciomatu massifs, at an altitude of 650 m. The resort also features a medium-difficulty ski slope. To the west of Băile Tușnad, the village of Baraolt is renowned for its wood crafts. Here, traditional funeral posts are made: on the upper part of the post, the age, profession and gender of the deceased are represented by symbols, arrows, flowers, bonnets or stars. On the other side of Lake Sfânta Ana, the spa town of Bálványos, 900 m above sea level, is also well known. Nearby are the ruins of a 13th-century fortress and the Puturoasa cave.
