Located at the western entrance of the Chaudière-Appalaches region, this village lives mainly from the resort industry, the metallurgical industry, transportation, the furniture industry, agriculture and the tertiary sector. Its history dates back to January 16, 1637 when it became the fifteenth seigneury to be granted in New France. It was the Company of the Hundred Associates that ceded the seigneury of Sainte-Croix to the Ursulines of Quebec. Part of the seigneury was bought by Lord Pierre-Gustave Joly in 1846. This portion of the land of Pointe-Platon is now known as the Domaine Joly-De Lotbinière, a tourist site worth discovering.
