The population, composed of about 400 inhabitants, lives as its ancestors did, but exports its fruit and flower production to the markets of Calama. To the west, on the small adjacent mountain, crossed by a magnificent stone street, perch the most typical houses: it is the old village, the Pueblo Viejo. Through its stone street, one reaches the church of San Lucas, a charming church of a very beautiful dark red colour, built before 1641. A little higher up is the village cemetery, where paper flowers compete with each other in beauty. The view from the Pueblo Viejo is truly sumptuous. A visit not to be missed!
