At the beginning of the 20th century, Puerto Varas became the nerve center of the lake transport and a compulsory point of passage for the trade with Puerto Montt. Bathed by the waters of Lake Llanquihue and with a superb view of the majestic volcano Osorno and Calbuco, Puerto Varas is a charming seaside resort, very popular in summer, with a long tradition of tourism (the first travel agency dates back to 1913). But from the first days of March, it finds its serenity. Also called the city of roses (because of the many rosebushes that characterize it), Puerto Varas is known for its remarkable and so characteristic German architecture: it is besides what makes its charm, undeniably!
