This small village was built around the monastery Santo Domingo de Silos. It is located 37 km from Peñaranda de Duero and 73 km from Burgos. It can be reached by bus with the Arceredillo company (www.autocaresarceredillo.es), which runs the route Burgos-Caleruega, with a daily stop in Santo Domingo de Silos. The speciality here is the morcilla (blood sausage), which is quite spicy, to which chilli, cinnamon, aniseed... is added, as well as lightly cooked rice, fresh cow or sheep's cheese, or mixed cheese. And of course the sucklinglamb (lechazo), the best of which comes from theoveja churra, one of the oldest breeds of sheep on the peninsula.
