About 40 kilometers northeast of Segovia, Pedraza is a fortified medieval village of over 300 inhabitants. Walk through its streets with wooden balconies to the castle square, surrounded by a moat, with a drawbridge. In the dungeons of this 13th century fortress, the children of François I stayed. Nowadays, you can access the inner courtyards and visit the Zuloaga Museum, which displays various works by the famous Spanish artist, along with some paintings by El Greco and Goya. A short stop should also be made at the church of San Juan Bautista, which contains a 13th century baptismal font and a beautiful organ.
