Of medieval origin, this beautiful small fortified village of 148 inhabitants is located on the banks of the river Júcar. Its triangular castle, dating from the 12th century, was restored and converted into a national parador: it is one of the best preserved in Castilla-La Mancha. The walls of Alarcón are spectacular with its three defensive enclosures. Alarcón is worth a visit if only for the magnificent view it offers. However, you can also visit the church of San Juan Bautista to see the murals of Jesús Mateo, the church of Santo Domingo de los Silos or the imposing church of Santa María.
