A few kilometres northwest of Tokaj on Highway 37 leading to Miskolc. Szerencs is known for its th century castle. Built on the remains of an ancient abbey of the th century, he was the property of various noble families (István Bocskai was elected Prince of Transylvania) before belonging to the Rákóczi. Zigismond Rákóczi was crowned there. After the defeat of Ferenc Rákóczi, during the war of independence, the Rákóczi went into exile and abandoned the castle to the Habsburg.
