Tortoli has a pleasant town center, and in the evening the many terraces fill the main street. Tortoli is famous for its magnificent beaches as far as the eye can see, just 5 minutes from the town center. It's also a good base for exploring the mountain villages of Olgliastra.Crossed by the SS 125, it is the southern starting point for the scenic stretch through the Gulf of Orosei National Park to Dorgali. The twists and turns follow one another through a steep, sublime Mediterranean landscape.Arbatax, its port anchored at the base of Cape Bellavista, forms a wild outcrop and attracts photographers for its red porphyry cliffs veined with greyish limestone. The port is practically one with the town of Tortoli, and is an important departure point for all boat excursions to the Gulf of Orosei. The lido of Tortoli is a magnificent beach of golden sand bordered by a pine forest that stretches as far as Santa Maria Navarrese. It's a superb place for a stroll, with the majestic cliffs of the Gulf of Orosei as a backdrop.
