From Oristano to the south, this small town, founded under Mussolini, was called Mussolinia. Its perpendicular streets and Liberty style buildings bear the hallmark of fascist beauty. Its creation in 1928 is part of a policy of large-scale spatial planning, since Arborea is entirely built on a former marsh zone. Today, the city is renowned for its massive production of dairy milk and for the rearing of pure breed cattle. Watermelons, strawberries and vegetables are the most exported products.
