Caravino is a pretty little commune of a thousand souls whose origins date back to the Roman period. Its history is intrinsically linked to the family of Counts Valperga di Masino, who occupied the castle for over a thousand years. Situated in the heart of the beautiful Canavese region, north of Turin, the castle has changed completely over the years, evolving from a defensive fortress to a pleasant holiday home. Today, it is managed by FAI, the Fondo Ambiente Italiano, a private non-profit foundation that takes care of buildings of historic value, in a role similar to that of the National Trust in Great Britain.
