Some 30 km north of Turin, Rivarolo Canavese, with a population of around 12,000, is well worth a visit for its castle and public park, a very pleasant spot for a green break, of course, but also for its town center, which boasts many beautiful churches, these include San Giacomo Apostolo, with its 48 m-high campanile topped by a bronze cockerel, the town's symbol, and the Chiesa di San Francesco, with its magnificent late 15th-century fresco by Giovanni Martino Spanzotti: theAdoration of the Child. Finally, don't miss the elegant Via Ivrea, entirely under arcades, with its pretty boutiques.
