Koukounaries, considered by many as one of the "pearls of the Aegean", is one of the most beautiful beaches of Greece and a postcard landscape: the place, bordered by a pine forest, is indeed splendid. The price of its success, you will find multiple activities (noisy beach bars, water sports, deckchairs and umbrellas in tight rows). In high season, it is crowded, except in the early morning, as buses arrive from the Chora every 30 minutes. To avoid the crowds, prefer the slightly less crowded beaches of Banana Beach, less than 15 minutes away by foot. Better yet, go to Mantraki Beach, a 30-minute walk away.
