Formerly the island's fortified capital, the Byzantine fortress was abandoned in 1829. Today, only two of the original 20 churches remain. This rocky outcrop, located at the very north of Skiathos in a wild landscape, is accessible by boat from the port of Chora. Alternatively, you can drive to the monastery of Evangelistria, continue for 5 minutes on a dirt road and then take a 30-minute walk. Below, the pebble beach has a nice café. Nearby, the beautiful beach of Lalaria is set in a wilderness where the famous hollowed-out rock of Tripia Petra stands out (access by boat only).
