Kaminia, with its Andreas tavern, is a pleasant stopover for visiting the site of Poliochni, one of the oldest Neolithic cities in the Aegean and the first known settlement on the island of Lemnos. Closed for works, the archaeological site is due to reopen soon: please call ahead to check. A few hundred meters south of Poliochni, the long beach of Kokkinovrachos is a vast stretch of sand, sometimes exposed to the wind but very pleasant. It takes its name from the red rock that closes off the bay to the north. You'll find a beach bar with a very relaxed atmosphere and a few umbrellas at the beginning of the beach.
