To reach Panaghia, follow the asphalt road on foot (approx. 45 min). After passing Livadi Bay, you'll notice the ruins of the Venetian fortress on your left. Beyond that, the landscape quickly becomes rural, almost bucolic. The sleepy village has been almost completely emptied of its inhabitants, but there are still a few elderly people, a school and the dispensary. You'll find the traditional bakery, To Steki, in the shade of the arbour. The village is tiny, but it provides access to the island's interior via beautiful hiking trails that skirt the island's highest point, Agios Papas (420 m).
