The road to Massouri in Emporios is absolutely magic, between sea and mountain. Of wild beauty, it winds, seems to fall in a water sometimes overseas, sometimes turquoise, then suddenly rises and seems to lead right on the horizon. On the way, the small bourgade of Arginonta appears in a retreat of the mountain. The Emerald color water bay is bordered by a few houses and a small little pebble beach. A little further north, just outside Skalia, a bifurcation on the right brings you to the most isolated part of Kalymnos: continue the asphalt road to the end and you will fall on Palionisos beach on the east coast of the island. There's a tavern, Palionisos Paradise, where you'll eat well. To really feel like being alone in the world, you can take a path that leaves on the left before reaching Palionisos and leads you to Sykati: a turquoise and translucent sea arm, beautifully isolated. Back on the road leading to Emporios, Kalamies offers a small quiet cove with a shaded pebble beach, with a slightly bohemian atmosphere. It is the Pirates of Kalymnos tavern that creates some of its charm: in this insane decor, you would think on a Caribbean island, in a haven of pirates.
