Not far from the hamlet of Marathi, on the right towards the village of Lefkes, a road will take you to the illustrious quarries of white marble in Paros. This marble is one of the only in the world which, cut to a thickness of 3,5 centimetres, still leaves light. It is probably why the most famous sculptors of Antiquity have used it to shape works that become masterpieces: The Venus de Milo, Hermes de Praxiteles, the Victory of Samothrace, the temple of Apollo of Delos.
