The largest island of the archipelago and the highest, together with Mount Metlina (237 m). Vrulje, the largest village on Kornat, has about fifty houses. Here you will find a park office where you can buy your entrance fee (more expensive than in Murter). On foot, you can go up to Turet Fort, an imposing Byzantine castle, and to the top of the mountain to admire the 360 degree view of the surrounding islands. By boat, head south to the island of Levrnaka (the only sandy beach in the Kornati). From the pier, follow the path through the mineral chaos to the ruins of a medieval village, more real than life.
