The harmonious cohabitation of archaeological sites, monuments from the ancient world, the Middle Ages and the Renaissance is remarkable in Zadar. In Zadar, the gate known as the Terre ferme gate, on the south side, looks out over the sea. This imposing triumphal arch, built in 1543, replaced the wooden bridge that linked this main entrance to a watchtower. The relief of Chrysogone cavalier, Zadar's patron saint, still stands here.
