It is probably one of the most beautiful villages in Estonia with its seven lakes plunging into the valley, including the Suurjärv, the deepest of Estonia (38 m), its beautiful church which stands in the middle of the village's wooden houses and its gentle hilly slopes that give relief to the whole.South of Rõuge, along the Latvian border, Paganamaa (Devil's Land) extends around Krabi village, with its lakes suitable for bathing (Lïïvajärv). More to the west, the National Park of the Karula Mountains surrounds Lake Ahijärv.
