This Argentine river island is the place where Juan Diaz de Solís and his men first landed in 1516. It is named after Martín García, a member of Solís' expedition to the River Plate, who was buried there that same year. In addition to its historical importance, Isla Martín García is also a pleasant place to walk around, where you can enjoy the subtropical nature and the beautiful colonial houses and an old theater-cinema with interesting Art Deco architecture. Approximately 200 people - 50 families - live here on the 184 km² of the island.
