Approximately 3 km from Saint-Joseph, the charming village of Grands-Bois seems unjustly neglected. Yet the village offers the advantage of calm, combined with proximity to Saint-Pierre, which is easily accessible via the old Terre-Sainte road. Grands-Bois has a long, welcoming beach, although it's difficult to swim there: there's little infrastructure, the lagoon is narrow, the water shallow and full of sea urchins. There are, however, some nice pools nearby, such as bassin 18 and bassin La Source. As far as festivities are concerned, if you travel in December, you'll come across the Manioc Days on the market square.
