The geranium's route is that of the Maïdo, which climbs in ever tighter laces above William. Little by little, the fields give way to the forest. We come across cows ruminating freely on the road or a few gramingoes killing time as we watch the cars go by with their hats screwed on their heads. Before arriving at the Maïdo lookout, you will cross the hamlet of Petite-France. This name was given to it because its climate was similar to that of France: cool and humid. And it still is! Petite-France is one of the last bastions of the rose geranium, which is cultivated from 600 m to 1,400 m above sea level.
