Inhabited by about 3,000 people, the small village of Petra is located a few kilometers from Sineu and is best known as the birthplace, on November 24, 1713, of Fray Junipero Serra, a famous missionary priest of the Franciscan order. Nowadays, you can visit the house where he was born, a humble Majorcan building from the 18th century, which has been converted into a museum with memorabilia and documents related to the evangelization of the Indians of California. Also worth mentioning is the Bonany sanctuary (on the Manacor road): at an altitude of 317 meters, the place has been planted with palm trees and cypresses. Beautiful view of Pollença and Alcúdia.
