Situated in a plain of orange trees and surrounded by high limestone mountains, this large town of nearly 14,000 inhabitants, long isolated from the rest of the island, has become rich thanks to the cultivation of orange trees. Also known for its ice cream, Sóller has its own, very Spanish, personality. Its balconies are adorned with geraniums and its 18th and 19th century palaces bear witness to the prosperity of a time when the town maintained close relations with Sète, Toulon, Cannes and Marseille. The meeting place in Sóller is the Plaza de la Constitución, the centre of the social city. The facade of the church and the bank to the left of it are quite amazing
