This town of 5,500 inhabitants is well known for its 13th century castle, whose ruins dominate the top of the mountain and from which one can enjoy a breathtaking view of the Bay of Palma (accessible by car or by a 2-hour walk from the town center), but also for its old industries and its church, located in the town's arcaded square. In the past, Alaró was home to 30 shoe factories employing more than 2,000 people, of which not much remains today. In the vicinity of the village, the rural hotel S'Olivaret will delight lovers of charming and historic homes.
