Welcome to the village of Acoua, a little less than 5,200 inhabitants, founded by Malagasies in the time of the razzias. The story goes that it owes its name to the Portuguese who landed in this village asking for water(aqua) from its inhabitants. It is a small fishing village surrounded by a deep bay. You can see the children playing football on the beach, the old men playing m'ra, the young people chatting in the shade of the big trees and the women gathered at the wash house. This peaceful village is a good starting point for kayaking, exploring the beautiful drop off on the south side of the beach or climbing the famous steps to enjoy the street.
