Before entering the village from Mamoudzou, a roundabout leaves you two options: on the left the RD2 joins M'tsangamouji in only fifteen minutes, through a beautiful forest. On the right the RN1 continues through the village and then along the north coast until it reaches the west. Dzoumogné conceals the remains of the sugar estate with its white chimney. The college was built around them. The sugar factory of Dzoumogné was almost the last to close its doors in 1955. In 1867, it employed 400 people and produced 500 tons of sugar per year. This is where the last gas station is located before heading north. Leaving Dzoumogné by the northern road, we quickly cross Bandraboua, a charming village well kept and full of flowers with two beautiful mosques In the surroundings. By the north after Bandraboua, the mangrove will no longer be present on the whole northern tip of the island. Continuing, M'tsangamboua with its beautiful islets is a foretaste of what awaits you a little further... We quickly arrive on the villages of the northeast coast, bordered by sparkling beaches. This is one of the most beautiful parts of the coast, surrounded by superb strips of sand, more or less isolated: M'tsanga Jiva, M'tsanga Fany or Fanou (M'tsanga simply meaning "sand" in Mauritian). The latter is superb and can be reached from the village of Bandraboua after a 30 minute walk on unmarked paths between bush and stream. We follow the lagoon to Handrema and its beautiful bay well protected, idyllic spot for boaters. The islet Handrema shines in the sun, when we arrive on the point of M'kadijou. The road clings to the hillside with coconut trees, banana trees and cassava plantations below, surrounded by the lagoon and its most beautiful shades of blue dominated by the summit of Dziani Bolé. From there, we gradually move towards the northwest coast to reach the village of M'tsahara, where the largest fishing cooperative is located. Plan to visit it to see all the fish caught. On the road, a very beautiful school is located on a cliff and makes you want to become a student again in order to enjoy the extraordinary panorama that is offered during class
