Just 10 km west of Shah Alam, the town of Klang has an industrial and modern face, with little of interest. Yet it was here that the first British Resident General, Sir Frank Swettenham, was appointed in 1874. It was also the capital of the state of Selangor, of which no remains remain. Above all, it's a paradise for lovers of local cuisine, as well as a departure point for two small islands just off the mainland: Pulau Ketam and Pulau Carey.
