Ideally situated between Genting and Cameron Highlands, this high altitude resort is the least frequented. It offers a pleasantly cool stopover for those wishing to relax a little, enjoy the tranquility of the area and undertake a few not-too-demanding hikes. As the closest resort to Kuala Lumpur, it soon became a favorite haunt of the capital's wealthy class. Its bungalows at an altitude of 1,524 meters, its flowers and impeccable lawns with a few conifers to boot, bear witness to the passage of the English. At the end of a hair-raising drive, you reach this incongruous hamlet of modernity set against a jungle backdrop, with a post office, tourist information center, bungalows, hotel and even a police station. Rest assured, it's safe. The last incident was in 1951, when the British High Commissioner to Malaya, Sir Henry Gurney, was killed in an ambush by Communist guerrillas. While Fraser's Hill boasts an excellent golf course, the hamlet is best known for its flora and fauna. Over 250 species of birds can be found here, while pleasant walks lead to hilltops where, on a clear day, the view is far-reaching. For those not too keen on the cold, there's the Jerian Falls ice bath.
