Let's just say that Marguerite is one of 8 Brasseries breweries. If one could hope better for this wonderful place after a resounding start, say that today it offers a price-price ratio that makes us hesitate (despite a drop in tariffs this year, still an effort! Some can do better for cheaper, certainly in less prestigious premises…). Nevertheless, the terrace and the garden of this bourgeois house at the beginning of the th century offer a splendid setting at our meal, which the residence of Marguerite Lumière (the wife of Auguste Lumière) receives us in a sumptuous decor to savour a cuisine of fine tradition prepared by Chef Francesco Santin is fun to revisit the tradition of such a bourgeois cuisine. This summer: Scandinave-marinated salmon, soup of melon servie with ice-cream, a plancha bar net, a pan-fried beef fillet, or a peanut baked veal nut. A romantic, romantic address that lends itself to dinner dinners as well as business meals, family meals and other receptions thanks to five privatisables lounges. One of the few (the only ones) addresses of "prestige" in this neighbourhood, the true village, yet easy of Monplaisir.

Rather unexpected as a location for one of the very few Greek restaurants in the city, but we like to get together in the evening, sitting on the terrace near the station of Brotteaux to enjoy the sun-drenched specialities with friends. For a first approach of this cuisine more diverse than it would seem, Futé recommend the tasting menu at €22.50 with its plate of starters, then a famous moussaka, the national dish. But you have to return quickly to enjoy the squid stuffed with spinach, fillets of red mullet with olive oil and rosemary or pork sausages, red and green peppers, onions and tomato sauce, without missing the youvetsi moshari, this beef with tomato, or the grilled lamb chop with herbs... We always keep a place for a fabulous yoghurt with honey and nuts or a baklava. A definitively divine place.

Though it was formerly in the middle of the Lyon life -it is by this street that the kings of France enter in Lyon, thus its name- rue Royale continues to exist thanks to some cuisine's great names. And among these names, that of Ivan Peric is part of those we have followed with the same delicacy for a long time. Far from being a cheap restaurant, this restaurant which was formerly a famous pastry, is at the same time an elegant and relaxed, smart and friendly place, as all the bistros of chef tend to be today. Except that Ivan is not pretending. He is naturally cordial and talented. A charismatic man, a true character and an outstanding chef with a carreer path at notable houses, like at Marc Veyrat, or in the private cuisines of the greatest in this world, in particular in Saint-Tropez. What is even more remarkable is that year after year - Ivan keeps on delighting us with a creative cuisine, which is always prepared with fresh ingredients. Only open in the evening, a menu that is also unique of a generosity equal to the chef's. Mix of flavours and textures, audacity and know-how of a controlled contemporary cuisine... It is undoubtedly one of the very best values for money in the city. An address to discover to spend a happy moment.

A unique formula created more than 50 years ago on the side of Toulouse and which has wonderfully been working in the heart of Lyon for over 15 years: we can talk about institution. Over time and despite the fierce competition of burgers of burgers and other meat specialists, L'Entrecôte has been able to preserve the formula that made it successful: the quality of the meat and a wonderful sauce with secret composition. The concept, a first on the Old Continent, is that of a made in Québec Belgian chips shop. And if the French fries are the stars, it is the Quebec speciality which does its show according to us: the poutine. Ah! the poutine, which is the dish that you would like to eat after a beautiful logging session in the heart of a cold forest, but a little less after a shopping session in town... It is the only dish that can provide your calorie requirements for a week at once! A dish that comes in several varieties, but never in light version... Even the Vladimir one, "regular" sauce, exceeds our fat absorption capacity. Then, we've not yet told you about the "grosse Cochonne" (fat pig)... In short, the decor may look too much like a canteen enlivened by some illustrated frames, the service is young and friendly, the portions are generous and we're looking for the number of our cardiologist to tell him that we had a crush on the Viennese poutine. As for burgers, they are as fresh as generous and even tasty. Finally, it is not the chips that have caught our attention, but a (fat) poutine which hasn't still existed in Lyon. An ideal address to avoid the recommendations of the national nutrition health programme, but original and friendly. Note that there's another address in the 3rd arrondissement. In a fantastic setting and a listed building, with its fanciful and colourful rooms with high ceilings - ideal for a business dinner or a romantic dinner - Bruno and his delicious wife constantly surprise us by the accuracy and originality of their menu. Carefully selecting all his products and wines as well, this cuisine passionate and trained by great establishments perfectly combines Asian touches and seasonal products of our terroirs. At lunchtime, we enjoy a daily special different each time, but you can also immerse yourself in the menu with a fish ceviche and nasturtium leaves, salsa verde or goat's cheese panaccotta, grilled leeks and vernal vegetables. Next, a roasted veal escalope with lemon, fried asparagus, green oil or a minute fried quail fillet, potatoes with speck and beetroot juice. For the end, a creamy chocolate browned with truffle. A unique place where you can meet, in a totally guarranted discretion, personalities and actors, but where everyone feels at ease thanks to Bonâme de Bruno.

From Alep to Damas, the succeful trip to Syria is probably done in one of the only Lyon restaurants that offers many specialities of a very interesting country... But that's another story. With only forty seats, this little place is hosted by the owner who is also an artist and, after a hand-kissing to women at the entrance, is particularly available to explain all the dishes on the à la carte menu, how to eat them and in what order. With his expert advice, we can start with a famous tabbouleh with fresh mint or yabrak, stuffed vine leaves, unless you prefer the dish of the kalife to taste everything! Then, we will discover dajaj, chicken sautéed with sesame cream, beef with cherry or chicken skewers with lemon, without forgetting the nanaa kebab, beef with mint garnished with aubergine. And for dessert, we can finish with mamounieh, the dessert of the Arabian Nights. So we can leave happily after making a gastronomic discovery, at a very reasonable price.

One of those "a little forgotten" addresses, yet present for many years, that you can enjoy rediscovering every time you look for a gourmet restaurant, not (too) expensive and original. L'Archange is all of this in this small quiet street opening onto Place Sathonay. A restaurant that you can describe as intimate without being wrong, no large table, a dining room not very large, but a cuisine that is great by the creativity of its compositions. At the helm, a Japanese chef who revisits traditional French cuisine in a set menu that changes over the seasons. The choice is therefore limited: no à la carte dishes, no menu for children, but the two or three starters, the two dishes -meat, fish-, to which you can add the suggestions of the blackboard of the moment, will always be enough to fully satisfy us. Surprising combinations for delicious harmonies like this salad of marinated octopus on a bed of leeks with vinaigrette, a pan-fried sea bass fillet with small vegetables and "bonne femme" sauce or a pork fillet with spices, chorizo, mushrooms and beans, full-bodied juice. Desserts are equally delicious, with a rhum flavoured chocolate dessert and hazelnut ice cream. Take your time to enjoy everything.

There are addresses Lyon residents rarely thinks of, for lack of visibility. So, we walk by, in front, behind it... every day and we get caught by a Parisian friend who tells us: "By the way, what do you think about Les Terrasses Saint-Pierre, the Fine arts museum restaurant? This is a restaurant that doesn't take for what it's not. Not really, a trendy address or for gourmet purposes, but it knows by its atmosphere a little prolo and a villain attracting many clients who do not like the room atmosphere that reigns in many establishments. This corresponds to the spirit of this simple and interesting establishment.

An address "perched" on the heights of Croix-Rousse, offering the passing gourmets an exceptional view of the city, but above all a traditional "family house"-style house within a totally unique setting. Because before you even enjoy the Maison Villemanzy cuisine, you first enjoy its décor with beautiful old woodwork, its warm flooring, its veranda and its terrace so far from the bustle of our world… The whole is highlighted by a service run by the excellent Christine and Guillaume Mouchel, the owners of the places. In this dream decor, the cuisine is that of a bistro displaying a short and seasonal menu (6 starters, 6 dishes and 6 desserts) to honour the local products and current recipes: Lyon- style chicken livers cake, warm Dauphiné ravioli salad and Greek-style lemoned mushrooms or a skate terrine with citrus to start. In the same spirit, a Cassolette of hot sausage and steam vegetables with herbs vinaigrette or a Roast cod fillet and risotto, lemon marinade with basil and organic olive oil. Meals and wine pairings are a success. A house of tradition which always surprises us.

In the typical cross-Rousse area, the Cagette offers a market kitchen, specialities from the Maghreb made with Fresh products. À la carte, hummus to herbs, vegetables, celery, carrots to orange… A real sun kitchen that will make you travel.

At the sign of this restaurant in the narrow Rue Lanterne, we would expect that one does not come here to eat a large vegetarian salad… Behind these beautiful stone walls, Futé found one of the best meat restaurants in the city. It is highly advisable to book, because the address - open for 5 years - attracts a beautiful clientele, rather "night" one (another Butcher and adjoining address is open at lunchtime), which comes to enjoy famous cocktails - the boss of the place is a specialist in the field - while listening to good sound. In a slightly brief decor, but at the end very convivial, meat lovers sit to discover dishes focused on… meat. And we must admit that it is particularly good, with pieces that are not often found in traditional restaurants. Menu reduced to a dozen dishes, with the unmissable homemade burger and its potatoes, while you are more gladly advised to enjoy matured meat, such as a beautiful beef rib or exceptional meast, at affordable prices, with Angus beef, the Wagyu (famous Japanese beef with parsley) or beautiful Galician beef ribs of 40 days maturation… Other specialty of the place: whisky, in which meat enjoys being marinated. In short, a carnivorous address in the heart of the city is not to displease Futé which recommends.

If you have not yet succumbed to Bagel's fashion - which would be unfortunate in our opinion - Best Bagels offers twice as many good reasons to crack. At Best Bagels, it's beautiful like pop art, colorful and stuffy, and it's good as to the States (incidentally, it's better to speak language). Inspired by the American delis, Best Bagels is a unique place in Lyon, where you can both buy products from the United States in the grocery store, but also live on site while having the possibility to read foreign magazines. Bagels Instructions: a small round bread with a hole in the center, cut in two and garned according to the desires. Between the classic lox (smoked salmon, Philadelphia cream cheese and pumplette) to the incredible home recipes (based on pastrami, magic chicken, goat's crotches…), bagels manage to remain delicate, light, yet consistent sandwiches. If you want to test American way of life, you can try sauces, cereals and other cakes, with original and intriguing packaging.
