Coltines offers 4,000 years of history! The Touls and Bardon dolmens bear witness to human occupation since 2,000 B.C. Initially surrounded by oak forests, today they stand amidst meadows, a sign of the agricultural activity that then took over here. An activity that shaped the country during the first millennium: disappearance of forests, construction of small stone walls to demarcate plots of land, reclamation of marshes.... Coltines once had its own castle, but you have to go back to the 12th century. It served as a stronghold until 1591, when it was demolished by order of the Duke of Nemours, Lord of Carlat.
